What to wear? Change the route? What to eat? These questions rarely need review. The eons of accumulated cycling experience between me and Amy have, pretty much, fossilized the answers, but 55 degrees, rain and wind, IN JULY had Amy and I rethinking the usual.
The north wind just kept getting stronger, rain was up ahead, and temps were reminiscent of late September. No Hanover today. I wasn't prepared to get wet in 55 degree temps. Turned early and rode into Rockford to avoid the rain we sighted. This kept us dry and we didn't have to fight a headwind anymore.
It took us about 15 minutes to warm up after our Delano stop, which is typical for fall and winter riding. Although we no longer had to fight a headwind, the crosswind was still plenty nasty.
Not the cheeriest of rides. We did avoid the rain, but came into Wayzata behind some so we still got to enjoy road spray.
The cool temps brought on another tough choice: chocolate milk or hot chocolate. I opted for chocolate milk. I just couldn't bring myself to putting down some hot chocolate in July. I did wind up spending a good amount of time in a hot shower though.
Kind of a nasty ride, but I was riding with Amy, which is always good. 85/18.3

I'm still scratching my head. Yesterday was very unusual. I'm starting to wonder what kind of weather we will have for our bicycle trip coming up.
