Bike Maintenance

Cannondale has been riding rough. It's been coming from the drivetrain. Feels like something needs to be tightened. A few days back the crank arm was loose, and I thought I'd fixed that. I checked the cassette and it was secure, then pulled on the crank arm...nice and solid. Rear wheel was wobble-less and rotating smoothly.
I decided to inspect the bb. It's Dura-Ace with the 7800 cup assembly. Removed the crank, the right (drive) side bearing seemed normal and rotated easily. Left side was the problem. The bearing moved roughly and felt like riding on a potholed street. Also, there was play in the left pedal post. Called around to several shops, and finally found the cups in stock at Grand Performance.
Took the pedal apart, cleaned and lubed it up with fresh grease. Re-assembled and tightened it all back up. No play and it now rotated with a nice, easy, smooth motion. Installed the new bb cups and re-installed the cranks.
Met Amy at 5 and tested out all my work for a couple of hours riding with her. All the rough problems were gone. The Cannondale felt solid, smooth and secure. Nice!
Turns out Amy had a total blast in San Diego. She seems to think the weather is better there, or something like that. PFFFFT!
A very nice ride. 40/17.1

ain't it nice when your bike repairs goes well, and "feel" of performance is back.

That's the problem with getting in miles, you wear out your bike. I worked on my Mtn bike yesterday, middle 3 gears wore out on my cassette. Just like clothes, when they get good and comfortable, they're wore out. Weather is better in Cali, but Taxes aren't.
