Slathered the sunscreen on the old hairless head, and donned shorts and a short-sleeved jersey...very strange for this time of year.
Met up with teammates Scotty B, Eric O, and little Stevey H at the Cafe, for our trek to Afton and Stillwater. Then who comes riding up? Lynne! She was meeting some Balance team riders at OUR sponsor. Hey! Can you do that?
Tried to talk Lynne into riding with us. Apparently she was looking for a bit more of a work out.
Light breezes, warm temps (very strange for this time of year) along with lots of chatter, beautiful dusky fall colors, and a pleasant, moderate pace accompanied us to Afton. Scotty decided that pleasant wasn't what he was after and got a little feisty on the hills and rollers. We elevated the heart rates a bit, and managed to stay on his wheel. Quads were not happy.
Descended along the coulee into Afton winding along burnt orange, yellow and red foliage. Very cool.
Climbed out of Afton along the St. Croix River towards Stillwater and a stop at the Bikery for a chocolate covered custard filled pastry. Yeah Baby!
We split up at Stillwater, with Scott and Steve heading southwest back to St Paul. Eric stayed with me to the Gateway Trail, then I was solo into Mahtomedi, Birchwood, along the south shore of White Bear Lake, to Vadnais Lake and Lake Owasso. Yeah, very very beautiful. Lots of yellow.
Just a delightful ride made even more so by the time of year. October isn't usually this generous with its summer days here in Minnesota. 87/18.5
Missed you Amy. Honest, I tried not to have fun.

Grrrr. I will soon be posting a video of what I did today to get you back.
We were just there for the Peace Coffee. Oh, did I mention how Peace Coffee is a Balance sponsor?
Drinking 5 quarts of fluids for a bike ride on Oct 9th just ain't right.
Yeah, Dave, I put down 3 bottles of water. That's a lot for me.
Lynne, Peace Coffee was on the jersey I was wearing....didn't see it on yours.
You guys had a good ride today, minus Amy.
Did you say chocolate covered custard pastry? OMG! Better than HoHo's?????
